Please don't bring a second bag... It will make you look amateur. Bring one pair of heels and one pair of flats (and a pair of sneakers for workouts). Plan your outfits so that both dress shoes go with every outfit.

like

You’re basically just packing three outfits and maybe gym clothes. That should def fit in a carry-on. I’ve been in consulting for a while and now the only shoes I pack are gym shoes. I just make sure the three outfits I pack match the shoes I wear on Monday morning. I guarantee no one will notice if you wear the same shoes all week.

like

Also, I really like packing cubes - it takes some extra time to roll my clothes but I definitely think it allows you to fit more in your carry on.

like

You won’t. I’ve been traveling weekly for almost 20 years. Color coordinate each week. You should never need more than a carry on

like

P1 was a bit harsh but I don’t disagree. I found it very helpful to plan my outfits when I started - don’t just pack misc shirts, dresses, pants so you can have options like you might for vacation. Only the necessities make it in the suitcase, you will be back in a few days.

What D1 said.
You’ll quickly tire of a second bag. IDGAF if I look like an amateur as P1 said but it’s annoying personally to lug and store.
If I bring a second pair of work shoes it has to be for a really, really good reason.
I use color-coded hangers in my closet so I can quickly identify the navy (vs black) items in my closet and sort and group for outfit planning on Sundays.

I plan outfits around the heels I want to wear for the week. Wear your bulkiest stuff on the plane (workout shoes, extra sweaters etc) and everything else can fit in the carry on. You also have the option of leaving extra shoes and toiletries at the hotel if you are traveling to the same location each week. Learning to travel with a carry on is an art--but it's worth it in the hours that it will save you down the line.

I’m at the point of wearing flats and causal clothing after 4+ years. Anyone else feel like that?

A2– no :) Part of the fun for me with the job is dressing for work. However, I do have a uniform of sorts that’s travel-friendly. I shop almost exclusively at MM LaFleur and use one of their stylists - the clothes are so consistent.
