Late 30s manager with two young kids. Is it worth waiting 2 years to make director and do that for a ~2 years then going to industry or exiting ASAP? I.e. are exit opps as Director/SM that much better

Leaving for a series C unicorn company with less than 1 YOE. Should I stay in consulting? The TC is 15% lower but the hours are 9-5 and ex MBB people with 3 YOE exit to the same position but one level above me.

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments.
