No they’re not — not until you spend 2/3 years at Director
As a Director, you tend to price yourself out of a lot of interesting opportunities. And people are less likely to take a bet on you. Not fun. Hindsight - M1 or M2 is the best exit
And if living in a high tax state like NJ and losing SALT deduction, will have a lot less of that hard earned money in your pocket which sucks
Caveat is I work in HR space so exit opps might be a little less fruitful...but from D1 it kind of confirms my thought that Manager doesn’t translate as well to Director when exiting. I also think it makes it easier to come back in (down the road). But would love to hear from Ms or Ds who have tested the waters
You tell us. Is it worth it to you?
This will be me in a few years, also curious. After going to a paycheck calculator, even after you make $300k its mind boggling how after taxes, it’s still not like your completely rich.
What are exit opportunities for Directors typically?
Interesting D1
Agree- if you are going to jump M is the time to do it (in hindsight)
Can m2 typically make jump to D ?
D at a bank- yes
