Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Although that’s good to hear about Slalom still. I’ll keep them on my radar.
Let us know. I think I can speak for SC1 we'd be happy to have you.
I was in your position and found my happy medium at Slalom. Got my wlb and interesting work.
Before making the move to Slalom, I also considered companies who were growing aggressively and had a lot of ex-consultants. Wlb was not guaranteed but I felt like these companies would be nowhere as stressful as what I experienced at a big4.

I have had too many friends leave for industry with lots of ex consultants just to find that emails with requests would show up on Christmas Eve from the ex-McKinsey trying to make senior executive. Sometimes you can take the consultant out of consulting, but you can’t always take consulting out of the consultant.

WLB moves are best done with a strong reason on why you want that extra time. Rest is great, but after you are rested you will be in your position. I had a friend who opened a donut franchise. He went in super early to open and make donuts. Went to work, then came after work to close it. Most of my other friends have families they want to spend more time with so the job is the paycheck that enables that.
