Thats an absurd assertion @op. We are a pyramid - we need more BAs than C's and more C's than SC and so on all the up to partner. We need a lot of hard workers and high performers that aren't necessarily going to be partner.
Well considering a lot of those let go recently are consistent 2s...myself included...you don't know what you're talking about. All of my PPDs and SMs were shocked to hear I am being let go. So really there is no rhyme or reason.
Are you serious ? So we need more partners but not too performers? Get the fuck out
The idea of up or out implies you need to make consistent upward progress and show that you have the skill set to attain the next level. To suggest that a top performing entry level analyst or consultant would get sacked because Deloitte doesn't consider them partner material is inane. Pretty much everyone would be fire in that case, yourself included. You're likely misinterpreting whatever your 'credible source' told you. You're needlessly spreading bad information in an already sensitive atmosphere. You're not helping.
OP is an idiot
Leadership has botched this ROYALLY. Laid off or not laid off every Deloittee should be pissed.
Seems like most people that got the axe had no idea it was coming. Interesting that leadership wouldn't set expectations ahead of time that they were moving to a more strict up or out policy. Also, out of four people ive talked to who were let go, only 1 wasn't told they were 'on-track' at MY...why wouldn't they give at least a little advance notice so these people can self select out.
@OP Are you a partner?
No the way we make money is top partners selling work. Everyone at the bottom is replaceable.
You might be a top performer. Burning the candle on both ends. But if you're not partner material, you'll be shown the door. Up of out culture finally being internalized.
@D5 sounds like someone who has advised a downsizing.
They also let people go early that are sponsored by GSAP and leaving for school in the fall. It's beyond me why they would want to fuck with that group? They work so hard to make sure GSAPers come back to the firm. Suddenly depriving me of my income and benefits months before I planned would piss me off.
Doesn't matter what you sell if you can't deliver.
They can deliver fine. They just go replace you. The mistake you're making is that you think you're valuable. You're not. You are 100% replaceable. Manager - BA can be replaced tomorrow at the price. A partner's ability to sell work and leverage their relationships into sustainable revenue cannot be replaced very quickly and sometimes not at all. So get over yourself and realize that you are a cog in the machine and so am I.
Just doesn't make much sense...why alienate a bunch of people who are going to be sitting on the other side of the table (in industry)...there is a clear model for how to execute up or out. Either we are too stupid to follow it, or this is something else that leadership is now trying to spin
Correction- you are a joke to believe in this shit and post it... Or a brand new analyst
This is once again an OP pulling stuff out of their ass stated as fact. Love these anonymous forums where everyone who can spell Deloitte in LinkedIn can talk like they know what is going on. We have 3 career paths, only one of which requires you to be "Partner" material. 2/3 don't. If this isn't clear to you, maybe a little less time bitching on social media and more learning about your firm. Out.
When will it be over? Because this is a nightmare for all of us (especially those who are already let go)
@d5: too much common sense, and all at once...
OP- what world do you live in? If all of us are partners, who would actually run the show. You are a joke and have no idea how real life works
