@Anomaly 1 I think ideally your superior would send the letter directly to the potential employer. I too wonder if it is a bit awkward for a candidate to present such a letter in an interview. I was thinking I would write the letter and provide my contact info should the employer want to reach out.

As a candidate how do you exactly present a letter of recommendation? Upon ask for references? I've never quite understood that.
LinkedIn recommendations are helpful, but I tend to completely ignore letters. In both cases, as well as with reference checks, what I find valuable is what isn't said - eg, if it isn't mentioned that someone is a great team player or produces great work - much more meaningful and insightful than anything volunteered by a reco.
