I’m a queer woman, but cis, femme and straight-presenting. That’s a huge privilege, and I haven’t experienced anything personally worse than the awkward double take when I say “girlfriend” for the first time. But that feeling of having to decide to come out or gently correct people’s language is... tiring? Is the “harder time” coming from actual bias in the hiring process, or the extra layer of stress of having to package yourself or think about your queerness in those settings? Both are valid.
Honestly curious how you were different in interviews pre- and post-coming out. Not sure how that would change interviewing at all.

ive noticed when people find out theyre generally more welcoming and value your opinion, especially when you get a brief for pride month for example. this industry is trying more and more to really push diversity
last year another gay creative and i got put on a brief to celebrate pride. we nailed it. client was happy, CD was happy, our team was happy, it worked out
