1). Sack up. 2) Get ready for a long hall. 3)! Food is gonna suck....AZ is not known for good food. Few exceptions but your daily intake is gonna be disgusting
AZ88 and Tommy V’s are my personal favorites!
Move to AZ for the duration of the project if you have the flexibility.
Long term engagements that far away should be evaluated as to whether or not you enjoy spending the weekends in the location and/or don’t have major commitments at home. I did an assignment in San Jose (from jfk) every week for 3 months. Stayed one weekend due to commitments at home It was super hard.
I don’t find the Phoenix area tremendously interesting but if you’re looking for outdoors things to do and plan to stay some weekends, northern Arizona is beautiful and not that far away.
If you have a lot on going on at home, 10+ hours per week on a plane is likely suboptimal unless you can get a commitment to some work from home weeks.
Also remember that southern Arizona is entering into its hottest time of year. Yes, it’s a dry heat (except monsoon season typically in July). But 110° F is still 110°.
I did it from April until Sept a few years ago. it really depends on your team and project. The area is super fun on weekends, great restaurants and nice outdoors!
Depends on your hotel budget - if you can get away with a resort property like the phonecian you could do a lot worse being stuck somewhere
During the summer months you can frequently stay at the nicer resorts for dirt cheap
Awesome place. Great hot party scene, plenty of outdoor adventures, reasonably low cost. Have a great time.
