If it will not help you achieve either your long-term or short-term financial goals, I would not take it. I’d wait for an associate position that is lock-step. If you’re hesitating about taking it now, when the workload comes, and it will come, you will prob get annoyed.
What are the hours requirements in new gig compared with what you’re currently pulling?
Why is the salary not lockstep? Did they provide you with any background on that?
Depends on the firm - not a good sign if the comp is already below lock step for the equivalent associate year. Agree with above where it breeds discontent quickly if your workload is on par with or over associates with higher comp. Additionally, certain firms have a negative internal view of the counsel position, so that is something to take into account.
