You’ve got to make the decisions that are right for you. In my experience, an early investment in an affordable wedding planner really paid off. They know the landscape, and can direct you to vendors (including venues) that are in your budget and fit your vision. Most even offer a free trial call - which is a good opportunity to see if their suggestions are helpful to you.
I’m in the Midwest and was able to find a wedding planner for less than $1500 - I can text her any time, she’s managing the vendors once we’re contracted, and she’s handling everything on the day of. And one of those free intro calls led us to our venue - and a couple others that would have fit our budget/needs.
I think you just convinced me. I will definitely look into it.
OP where are you? My wedding planner was around 2k doing partial planning and she’s been amazing
Elope. I wish I had done it.
I felt the same way when I started planning. It was all so overwhelming and the prices were insane. I stepped a way for a little bit to recharge and then approached it from a different angle. I was determined to get things done within my (relatively small) budget, and with a little legwork and creativity, I pulled it off. Sometimes you just need to step a way for a bit. And if you still feel this way, then maybe eloping is more your speed. Nothing wrong with that.
I’m worried about venue availability! I’m thinking summer or fall of 2024 but so many dates have already been reserved!
As for venues, look at any local park systems, airbnbs (as mentioned above and make sure the host will allow), golf courses (even public ones might have a small party room), etc.
My fiancée and I got a country club membership basically just for the venue, which was free since we were members. But we’re only renting a small room and limiting to 50 people. Hopefully you find something great! Good luck!
what are your must-haves for the venue? are you willing to get thrifty to save money? if so I have some suggestions
Yeah the cancellation worries me and there are lots of noise restrictions (quiet hours) that I’m noticing for the locations I’m looking at. Might not be feasible unless it’s a more remote location
Destination wedding!! Getting married in 2 weeks and it has been the EASIEST process.
Yes! Riviera Maya
Oh same. Budget was originally 20, now it’s 30. And even that is a stretch.
I’m in the middle of planning now, my initial idea was just got get a nice photo shoot and a city hall wedding but my fiancé and my family wanted an actual wedding. We compromised on a 60 people wedding, but I wish we did the city hall and photo shoot thing
🗣️ Wedding planner!! Mine has been a godsend and I can’t imagine doing this without her.
Not at all. It was more than I anticipated: $7500. That’s the same price as my venue 😂 but still well worth the price. She’s doing everything and basically bringing us in to pick/choose/veto options.
Same here looking in NY and it’s so overwhelming and expensive that I just don’t feel like dealing with it right now.
Same we’re planning way ahead for 2025 but everything is so expensive and I just can’t bring myself to pay $6k for a full planner.
