Read the 48 laws of power. I think the first law is never outsmart the master. You cannot let your manager feel that you were trying to be a leader. And any great ideas you come up with. You need to attribute them to your manager. You are being paid to do a job and to follow company protocol. And thinking outside of the box are going beyond that makes you non compliant. This is what they expect of employees

Good answer!
Support them anyway. Don’t stop leading. Fill the void. Take up your space. Be your best, and the manager will either adjust and appreciate the value you’re bringing, or their people will eventually follow you when you land your next job. Either way, those who lead will rise.
Don’t play to anyone else’s insecurities. And remember that this can be done without coming across as a jerk, or cutting the managers legs out from under them.
Happened at my last job and once my manager felt threatened by my potential to do her job, she tried to make me force quit is several ways
Have you tried discussing these alleged issues with him? It is equally your responsibility to be clear about your goals, and that you hope he can upskill and develop you towards those things.
If you have not done a development conversation I recommend you ask for one. Otherwise, any of your suspicions are just that. You cannot fault someone for not being able to read minds….yet.
Yep pretty common - if you're feeling this way, just know that you do have an option to leave. It's not worth staying somewhere if they're going to stifle your growth anyway
You must not me in the cool kids club! Don’t let that phase you! Just keep upping the bell curve.
Unfortunately, just because people have the sales skills to work their way up & become managers, they don't always have the soft skills necessary to be good leaders. Try not to let it get you down, and keep doing your best. If you see that's going to be a problem, you could try to meet with them to clear things up. Or, worst case--try switching to a different team or different workplace altogether eventually..
