I showed him the breakdown of my net worth and he thought I added an extra digit. I had to reassure him it was correct. He asked how it was possible since he knows my income. It was all because he taught me to make sacrifices (small for me) and invested.

I’ve been doing ID for about 2 years now. Mostly slip and fall and WC work. Long-term, I want to move out of ID. I’m currently interviewing at a firm that does ID, but mostly does insurance coverage opinions. They also do some more complex ID, such as L&E.

With the ultimate goal of moving completely out of ID, would this be seen as a step up? I appreciate any and all feedback. TIA

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that’s kind of silly. I work at a pretty small company leading marketing. My title is technically Marketing Lead but I want to put Head of Marketing on my LinkedIn etc. I think of these titles as totally interchangeable—I just like the way the second one reads better. Thoughts on Engage NY/Eureka math...

Just got moved into 6th grade math for the upcoming year! I’m feeling big nervous excitement ! 😁😁

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Textbooks- what are you currently using for Calculus ( not AP)? What are the pros and cons? Is there an online component to support homework? Thx.

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.

What’s your opinion on math homework? I teach 4th grade and have always given it but I’d like to see what others do and weigh out if it’s really worth it. If I give it, I feel like I should spend class time going over it but on the other hand I stress myself out trying to keep the absent work organized and those that don’t even do the work.

Does anyone else have to wait until they have all assignments turned in for the day to start grading? I have Geom classes in the a.m. and p.m. and my OCD doesn’t let me grade as they are turned in.

How do you incorporate warm up/bell ringer problems so that kids actually complete the problems and not just use that time to socialize?

I need some help. I have had a bad day personally. I’m trying to think of a first day virtual activity. I’m 100% online. I teach 10th and 11th Algebra 2 Honors. We are using Google Meets. I thought about doing a logic puzzle after the presentation. And I’ve also thought about starting notes.

What have you found to be good ways to help bridge gaps left from time out of class due to Covid? I teach 6th grade. We use iReady but feel like there are other sources I could use that would help fill in learning gaps.
