Alright. I’ll get studying then. Thanks, all!
Just keep in mind that your pre-MBA resume has a lot to do with where you’re hired. Folks with little experience can find job search more difficult. But 3 years is fine, maybe ideal.
3-5 years is the sweet spot.
5 years. Take gmat ASAP to get it over with.
As soon as possible. Your level/earning resets after MBA so the earlier you go the earlier you’re at that level and can grow from there
Depends on what you have done in those 3 years. As a consultant, you may have seen more than classmates with 10 years of industry exprience.
Because I am also targeting M7
As a technical resource with interest in moving slightly away from technical. I might be technical for a bit longer. Would an MBA be worth it for me or should I stick to more technical certs e.g. AWS, CCNA?
Three years seems a bit young... 5 years was the sweet spot. I was at 8 years post undergrad (switched careers and did engineering masters), definitely on the older side. Still had a great experience, but honestly keeping up socially and even being out of school that long was a challenge at times!
Young as in inexperienced? I am more than 3yrs out of undergrad
FWIW, I waited 5 yrs and in hindsight I wish I had gone 2 yrs earlier. If you have 2-3 years in consulting, you'll be in great shape.
Thanks!
I started at 29 and I felt I was old in the class. I’m now 35 and 2nd year M so you can do your numbers.
The Ivies are looking for at least 3 - 5 years of experience. Keep that in mind!
I did it at 33 and had my company pay for my emba. Got to keep my job, married with kids. 3 years after graduation I left and increased my compensation by 65 percent
And loved the emba because of the professional experience the classroom had
I did it with 3-year corporate experience. It was perfect timing. We get the same title and pay after MBA (except for very few people who have <2 yr work experience before MBA), so why wait?
One M7 MBB interviewer who interviewed me said 3-year experience is fine for consulting applicants, but corporate applicants should have 5 years 😔
Right where you are now
3 years of consulting experience prior to matriculation, very glad I didn't wait longer.
Is 3 years at matriculation too little for M7? Have had plenty of interesting work pportunities, but not sure if I'd stack up to other applicants.
Don’t have to leave to do an MBA, a lot of programs now have weekend options. Mine is 10 - 6 on Saturday’s.
I am at 5th year and a manager. Doing Evening program. 3-5 years is the sweet spot depending on where you are. Best is when you are about to hit a manager or just made a manager.
