Bain & Company I’m a PhD student looking to start in consulting and am looking to connect with other PhD/ADP consultants that went into consulting to learn more about the experience and how to prep for case interviews coming from a non-business background. Especially looking for advice on McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company

Was in this exact position; went ACN to McK. Likely better shot at getting an interview invite, but the interview process is the exact same for experienced hires.
It’s as difficult as getting in from school. As every year passes, we’re hiring more and more experienced hires, wether that be consultants or more specific experts.
Were you in Accenture strategy? Did you get someone to refer you? I have heard from people getting into MBB as experienced hire is difficult.
How much experience did you have when you applied? Currently have 8 months and wondering whether I should wait till I hit a year
To clarify, are you wrapping up undergrad and going into B4, or wrapping up MBA and going into B4?
If you want to know if it’s possible to go to B4 then MBA then MBB then the answer is yes, that’s common.
If you are going MBA to B4 to MBB that is also possible, but less common and will likely require taking a step “back” in tenure.
Going from MBA to Big4. I interviewed with McKinsey and Bain but it didnot work out. Plan on applying again after the 18 months time frame. So was wondering if its possible to do it and how to navigate that.
I did this. When I was in your shoes I though there door was completely closed off, but I am surprised at the number of people who have made a similar jump. It’s not a huge number of people but if you have a good background you stand a decent chance of getting an interview.
Spend some time in your role, then get a referral from someone at your target firms. Then you’re going to have to do well on the case similar to what you saw on the MBA side.
It's really difficult. I can assure you that based on experience. But don't be discouraged. Referrals will help you big time.
