I have a VC/GE interview coming up (phone screen) and personally don’t know much about the space , it’s just an area that has always seemed interesting.

Does anyone have Recommendations on how to get up to speed/good questions to ask during the phone screen?

Hello — Looking to crowdsource some pros & cons from this knowledgeable group. I have two opportunities. 1: FAANG in Product and 2: Big Pharma. Compensation is more or less equivalent (~300-350k range with Pharma heavy on cash, FAANG heavy on RSUs). Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

I have a job interview today that I’m actually nervous about. That’s a good sign right? All my other ones I was dreading or just wanted to skip. I’ve only been jobless for 2 weeks - I would like more time, but this is a company and boss that we’ve been dancing around each other for about a year. And they have a position open at the same time I need a job.

I’m so depressed, have been for years, and don’t see it getting better. I’ve tried everything from therapy, exercise, psychiatry, journaling, self help books, healthy diet, etc. what else is there?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
