Mentioned to my boss this week that I had reached burnout & that I was beginning to consider my options. I have received offers recently 50K above what I make now & communicated that. On Friday they said their boss would be touching base with me next week. I am in above average standing with the company & received a good annual raise earlier this year. The issue is I took the job below my market value to get out of a much worse job 2 years ago. Realistic outcomes for my upcoming meeting?

If you have already started interviewing and have received offer, I’d say take the best one and move on. You are burned out in your current - whatever the outcome of the meeting is, that won’t change.

50k above what you make right now is no brainer, anyway.

That’s fair. But in my experience, counter offers rarely work. You started looking for another role for a reason. What’s the guarantee that those reasons won’t persist, say, 6 months after whatever promises the C suite makes?

At SM1.. that is a very good insight.

Update - had a promising conversation with the CFO. They wanted to create a new role for me & I had a couple discussions with what would be my new manager. Offer was a 6.6% increase in pay with a 6.2% bonus at the end of the transition. I said I would take a few days to consider, but I think my decision was made easy considering I said my market rate was 51%-61% above current pay prior to the offer.

Left McKinsey for a Fintech corporate last year. Really disappointed to see bonuses given out (cash is equivalent to half month salary, equity vested over 5 yes also not great) after getting the 5/5 rating and business doing well overall. Doubting my decision to come to industry. Is this the norm? Feels really low as historically variable has been a big enough component for me to pay down loans/invest.

Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.

Hi Fishes,
I got offer from persistent with 31lpa.
But most of the compensation they added into skill bonus-1400000. Due to that my basic salary is low- 50k as compared to my cctc basic salary, which is 63k with 19.5lpa.
Is it normally happening with everyone joining to persistent?
Can Persistent increase basic salary component and reduce the skill bouns?
I asked hr to increase my basic, but she mentioned that it’s system generated and standard format, vary cmpny to cmpny.
Plz help me out guys.

My department is transitioning to a platform where they want learning specialists to create content and short learning videos to support the business line and I assume eventually replace the training. I wanted to get some feedback on appropriate salary negotiations. Thanks!
