mid level lateraling for the first time here - how many interviews is normal???

Firm 1: two partners (i assume screener), then four partners back to back in the AM and two more partners back to back in the PM…

Firm 2: one partner Monday, supposed to be two partners Wednesday but scheduling conflict so one partner Tuesday, one partner Wednesday and one partner Friday (all spread out to torture me and idk when this will end)

I just want this to be over when will it end…

Clerks, at what point in your clerkship did you start applying for jobs? I’m about halfway through a two year clerkship in my intended market and I am trying to figure out when I need to seriously start applying.

Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

Did any of you use career services? If so, was it really helpful in the job hunting phase? I am actively recruiting, but not sure if I really want to use career services given I am worried about the anonymity bit.

Any thought in working 3x12s a week vs a typical 5x8 or 4x10? I am working 3x12 and have to work some weekends and I am not sure if I like it. I am 25yrs lmk maybe I am just young? Thoughts?

First year associate and I may barely hit 1500 this year. Requirement is 2000, though i know first and some second years at my firm don’t hit it.

I am a in a small specialist group who has 2 partners, and they both give me work. One of them said to not worry about my hours (though they do not know how low of a number i’m projected for). Haven’t asked the other.

Lateral that just went through first bonus season with the firm. Not in a major market but workload is comparable to major markets. Surprised at how low the bonus was. I received solid reviews and my annualized hours were well above the requirement. Should I approach anyone about this? Wondering if it is worth addressing or if it could compromise my standing. Did your firm’s leadership send a message re the horrific shooting? Before I lateraled we always got emails from leadership, which IMO were very humanizing and appreciated. (1) Is bankruptcy an active/growing practice area during recessions?
(2) If I clerk in a bankruptcy court as a 5th year general commercial litigator, would I be a competitive candidate for a bankruptcy position in an AmLaw 100 firm following the clerkship? (assume for sake of question that credentials are not an issue)

When BigLaw attorneys interview students, how soon afterward do they give feedback? What kind of feedback do you give as an interviewer at your firm (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, thumbs up, thumbs down, veto)? Does everyone get in a room or do you just submit the forms to one hiring partner, and/or to a black box? If you don't click with the student, what would make you still give them a thumbs up? Sorry if my questions are a little neurotic... !

Finding it a slog to bill even seven hours a day. Few months ago lateraled from a firm with a high stress and toxic environment to a much more civilized place. Enjoyed a honeymoon period but now feel bored and disaffected in a way I never felt at my old firm. Was the drama artificially keeping me going? Help

What monetary goal/target are you telling yourself to hit before quitting big law?

How can I sell my 2 years of clerkship as valuable experience for corporate work? I would like to get credit for at least one year (at least in salary, if I can’t in seniority). I know for litigation they are more clearly valued and linked to that type of work, but I have reconsidered my interests and now am thinking of going into corp. However, I don’t want to feel like I wasted 2 years clerking (which I don’t feel like that, but I have to convince an employer of that too). Any help or insight?
