I have some doubt regarding pf contribution... Say for example.. 12% of my base salary is 600 which gets deducted from my salary.. on the flip side.. the company has to contribute 600 to my pf (which is actually deducted from my salary only like already part of CTC)?. So my question again is that.. the company contributes 600 as well? PwC

Max out your 401k, kids. Compound interest is no joke. I just turned 40 and have a million $ in my retirement accounts.
-10%. I wish I was kidding.
Pretty fuckin terrible at saving not gonna lie.
i put away 40% of my take home across retirement/savings/whatever.
$1500/mo. rent/utilities + $1300/mo. regular life expenses (somehow, lots of eating out & stuff), and roughly $2000/mo. to savings.
that's on $85k salary
NYC I save 30% but have no student debt. I will be saving more as my salary increases. The way I do it is by decreasing my fixed expenses as much possible through taking advantage of every single employee benefit and by prepping my meals whenever I can
I make 10k monthly after taxes. Never keep track of my savings month to month, but so far I've seen my account increase by 50k - 70k annually.
I make 80k and save 16% in my 401k. People who tell you to max out make a lot more than 80k.
Right now 10% into 401k and about 20% savings from my checks after 401k.
30% of take home, NYC
Not as much as I'd like really, but for now it makes more sense to put extra cash against student debt. Once that hits zero (just a couple years now), savings will increase.
Oh and I live in L.A
Right there with you cw2
About 40% in NYC
Wait. That's not counting 401k. That's 40% of my take home.
30% and I'm supporting my wife who is in grad school for another year. We're in NYC. 40% if you count our rental income.
