That's crazy! I see it the same way @OP! That's a beautiful thanksgiving weekend connection! Thanks for sharing!
My Dad worked for KPMG in the late 90s and also an even better salary and benefits package than I do now. He said there wasn't as much competition either. Also just throwing it in there that he was the first of his family to get a white collar job.
Mid to late 90's was a real boon to IT workers. In 98 we were paying a HS kid $100/hr as a part time Web developer.
I member
@OP- it's true that companies have kept salaries the same for decades. Thanks to globalization, and other tricks...
Companies in Saudi Arabia used to fly out sap consultants on 2 month rotation, paying them 200/hr in the 90s. Competition and improved technology has led to correction of wages
It was for a Senior Associate position and his age was around 27 or 28 back then
A2 is probably the person least likely to be fun at Happy Hour. Bro, if you got hate in your heart, let it out!
I was serious, if your dad was out of NYC in 98 and in stt we likely knew each other
Shocking observation OP. How on earth is PwC management advisory still paying the same? I guess the partnership has expanded a lot, but still
S&1, I'm not sure! Anyone on this thread in consulting since 90s that can point towards salary growth?
Adjusted for inflation, your dad was better off. Also, it is a bit shocking considering how much the price of housing has gone up in cities like NYC and SFO.
Haha thank you A1. I never knew about it either. He ended up turning down the offer and started his own tech company in 98. He mentioned the energy and mindset back in 98 was just different than what it is today. People were turning down Consulting offers left and right to start their own companies.
Even. Better.
Maybe it was more experiential back then. In 1998 did your dad have more years under his belt than you do now?
Yes - I was interested in knowing you Dad's level in 1998? Also how did his own company turn out? It's hard to make Partner and I am thinking about the same.
^in the 90s good independent tech consultants made 200/hr in NYC - no need to go to the Middle East
A2, I genuinely feel bad for you. I hope you wake up one day soon.
Need more information to compare. Ages, number of years experience, level of offer.
I have a hard time believing that wages materially haven't changes
All of you calling me out on hating, look at yoselves hating the kernel of truth I have delivered 😎
@A6,
