My experiment of applying to art director jobs outside of New York is proving very successful I'm getting offers to interview for no less than 95k and ahmazing benefits plus relocation.

Kelsey, I have lived in nyc for years, tried other places, and decided I can live nowhere else. It’s not for everyone. But if you think it might be for you, it’s absolutely worth trying once in your life. Good luck!

The public transportation is less and less reliable the more people ride it. You'll spend and hour usually commuting to and from work. Salaried positions mean indentured servitude.

This also proves that NYC companies are pushing down wages with the excess of creatives looking for work.

@kelsey yeah the market is terribly competitive and the hours are insane. Did you like having a life? Kiss it good by cause your life is owned by the company.

Don’t. If you do, don’t make it hard on yourself to leave. Pack lite. The market here sucks. There’s nothing wrong with coming here for a year to build your resume or portfolio and bounce.

CD sounds like they were on the ladder before agencies got greedy with wages.

Thanks for the hope OP ... San Francisco’s got a lot but cost of living makes it undesirable to me. I’m focusing on Florida. Yep, I said it. My family is there. (I’m in LA).

I'm aiming for cities where the cost of living is 15-30% less than New York.

Should I bother applying if I’m feeling conflicted? i was set on applying this fall. Have 99th percentile gmat score, recommenders identified, visited schools, and contacted students. But I’m actually really enjoying my life as it is right now especially on the personal front - I love my city, lots of friends, work is good. I don’t want to leave my situation. On the other hand I’m worried about having a back up in case of layoffs plus I’ll be 26 this fall and don’t want to age out if I wait

Why do some people see liberal arts degrees as useless? Saw an earlier post where many bashed the liberal arts. As someone who both interviews and manages undergrad hires, I haven’t seen a big difference between say a philosophy major, a business major, or an engineering major. While there are technical jobs that need specific skills, most entry level consulting, finance, and industry roles don’t. It boggles my mind how someone would say they would pick accounting over liberal arts every time.

My best friends sister just got out of relationship with another one of our friends back in January. She’s moving to a different state in 3 weeks. We’ve been talking for awhile and told me even if it won’t work out bc of the move, she wants to mess around until she does. My best friend and the sister living at home together during COVID. I like her and if she weren’t moving we both agree it very well could turn into something. Do I do it? What do I say to my best friend? Friend that is the ex?
