Don’t keep doing the same thing and expecting a different response! Look for root causes and seek alternative strategies or ways to adapt/compensate.
Get an ADHD coach or read books like Driven to Distraction, try techniques like Pomodoro method, etc. Don’t just throw your hands up and blame stuff on your ADD—you have ADD, but you can “fix it” and make it work.
Amen to that. Damn.

Sorry to hear, but please don't beat yourself up.
Perhaps you can talk with HR and your manager, then request an accommodation at work. They may be able to give you a coach to help with time and task management, communication, note-taking, etc.

I wish I had advice but all I can say is it’s hard. It’s taken me a long time to figure out how I work best and how my ADHD fits into that. I now try to use what I’ve learned to help those who work under me as many, many of them have diagnosed ADHD as well. I encourage you to be open and honest about this as well as share with your manager/co-workers what works best for you.
Example, I SUCK on calls. I have issues with auditory processing and only in the last year have I embraced that and tried to remedy how I can. My team knows it already takes a lot of my focus just to listen and follow so we have a designated note keeper, I will openly acknowledge if I need something repeated or if it’s better off just sending to me in email, etc. this has been working really well!
If you don’t have a team that is supportive to this, I recommend talking with HR and/or finding a more inclusive employer.
DM me if you want to chat about anything, I’ve made a point over the last 1-2 years to be open about mental health at work and creating boundaries/expectations and happy to talk through with you.
Perhaps try another career

I understand that piece for sure. That said, what OP is describing is a “me problem” not a “them problem”. Their problems will likely follow them wherever they go without first getting to the root issue/finding what works best for them. 🙁
By the way, there’s a lot of technology out there that automates really menial work. I’m working on a mental health platform and would be happy to chat!
Thankfully you can search IG or Google and find hundreds of ADD coaches.
Medication is useful, but it’s not a catch-all. You need to understand how to cope with the issues it doesn’t cover for you.
Did not even think to search Insta - thanks!
I was only diagnosed with ADHD in my 40s. Before that I was just white-knuckling life and not very well. On top of it, I blamed my lack of direction and focus on PTSD from a childhood filled with horrible abuse. My education suffered and so obviously my career did too. The only thing that helps now, besides medication, is that I take a LOT of notes. I recommend choosing a method for listing tasks, progress, wins and methods and using it like a new religion. And on that topic, while you’re choosing a method, if you think this approach could help, don’t overthink what method you’ll use. Just close your eyes, point to a Google result, and use it for 6 months, every day, like brushing your teeth.
It really helps me a lot.

Have you tried medication?
There’s no way I could survive this career even remotely unmedicated. Now that I’ve tried medication- I have no idea how I ever did this job before at any level. also go me 🙃for having kickass willpower like that back then… somewhere idk where deep down lol. Can’t recall it on queue for shit but it’s in me some 👏🏻 where 👏🏻.
I didn’t know I had adhd when I chose this path. And I didn’t actually pick this career either. It makes a lot of sense why I struggle so much with the job now vs the kinds of things I’m better suited toward. They don’t overlap lol.
I wanted not to waste the education my parents crammed into me, to get a secure job making humble but decent wages enough to be as independent as they were always preaching about, do small things for charity and the ones I love, and look nice while thankfully sitting in the A/C in a decent looking office to get paid.
-Education?Wasted.Now I’m stuck. ✅
-JobSecurity?Wtf lol. not even a real thing; especially in PA. Especially cuz I’m ME. ✅
-Decent wage? Rolf. PA pays least of the industry and I can barely make rent next month. Let alone take my family on vacation or donate gifts like I wish I could. ✅
-Independence is so overrated sometimes. Just code for “do everything yourself, alone, forever and pay a higher price for it.” I am independent. Doesn’t mean I never wish for help or would appreciate splitting bills. ✅
-We don’t sit in offices anymore - we don’t know what we’re doing now yet, but we definitely don’t do that if at all possible✅
-Good thing I give zero fucks about appearances currently, because I’m too broke to fix it even if I did haha. Rats! ✅
