My husband and I planned to relocate a couple months ago. I got hit by the covid hiring freeze but he didn’t. He moved for his new role & I planned to stay in my job here until hiring picked up. Now there seems to be a “second wave” and I’m getting nervous. I’m hundreds of miles away from my entire family, a second round of quarantine (in my city) seems likely, and I’m stuck in a job I was anxious to leave a year ago. I’m so sad, lonely and depressed. I think I need to just quit. Any recs?

Can you survive on only your husband’s salary? If so, I’d consider it. You never know what you might find once you’re living in the new location.

like

If it's unbearable, I say just give notice and move. When hiring picks back up they'll see why you didn't wait.

like

Can you work remotely for now as the second wave is likely coming? In the meantime, you can look for other opportunities at a new place

like

If you can afford it, I say quit and move. It’s so much easier to find work when you are physically living in the area and it will motivate you to pound the pavement because you have nothing to fall back on.

I had my first round of interviews with Mckinsey last Friday. the first case was a disaster but the second case + both of the PEI were quite good. The thing is, my other lead progressed very well, it's also in the Private Equity space, an Investor Relations manager role, boring but good money. they pressed me to go through all the process by the end of the week but I won’t be able to advance much with McKinsey by then…Super stressed, what should I do?

I just have a lot of students with special needs who would benefit from music therapy. I have done extra classes for them where we do stuff that I've picked up from others, but I want the certification.

I am an associate at a UMM and my employment contract has a 4 month non compete (yes, even for associates) but I am thinking of lateraling. What are the implications of breaking a non compete? I didn’t say anything when I signed because I was desperate for a PE offer but it seems so unfair as I am just a lowly associate. I am not so much worried about getting sued, but about my current employer tanking my reputation if I leave and break the non compete.
