I can’t answer the legality of providing a contract, but your “contract” is most likely your original offer letter. Since you’re posting in a retail group, I’m assuming you work retail or hospitality and are PT. If that’s the case, most offer letters do not specify hours for this exact reason. When you’re PT, the store or hotel or whatever needs to be able to cut shifts when it is slow or to avoid payroll overage. Every offer letter I send includes 0 hours as part of it because we as a business do not want such obligations to affect us in the future.
