Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

Suit and tie
When in doubt over dress. For the second interview dress like the people he met with.
Pro
For IB? Definitely suit and tie. Anything else would look underdressed for that interview.
I’m not in investment banking but I’ll say it’s better to be over dressed than underdressed so suit and tie. But make sure the suit fits correctly.
Suit and tie.
Suit and tie.

Absolutely suit and tie
Suit. No bankers will judge for dressing too well, and I've seen way too many interviewees dress the way they normally dress in WFH setting. I like it when I interview someone who has put in a little effort.
There also really is something to "look good, feel good... Feel good, play good".
Also for clarity, you should never wear:
- chinos in general for finance / IB. Wear dress slacks or jeans.
- button down and tie. Looks like you’re wearing a high school uniform. Tie is only in the picture if you’re wearing a full suit.

Suit and tie - i agree with the most.
Good luck to your son. I am sure he is excited and so are the parents.
Thank you!

Suit and tie. The Patagucci is for people who already have the job.

If it’s NY, then suit and tie. If it’s Chicago, then suit without a tie. Anywhere else, it depends.

Nice!
Thanks everyone. I should have clarified that this is more of a regional investment bank and not Goldman Sachs in NY. Having said that, I think erring on the side of overdressed is probably better.
I appreciate the responses!
It’s an investment bank… dress like Wall Street
The first question is going to be “what should you wear at an interview at an investment bank”. They won’t ask this question out loud, but it’ll be the first and most important question
Edit: that wasn’t as obvious as I thought it would be. Go watch any tv show about bankers or stock brokers or even go watch the show Suits
Suit and tie. Tie can be removed if approprite. Tuxedo not recommended.
