My Unlimited commission cap has a (somewhat hidden) clause about extraordinary deals requiring executive approval. This basically means if I close a deal that is too good, the CEO gets to decide how much he feels like paying me instead of following the contract. Does anyone else have a deal size limit in their contract, or is that a major red flag that I should have spotted earlier?

I work as a Business Development Manager at a sports club.. I’ve been given a couple of months “trial” in the 6 figure and above sales in which I don’t see going back to my other role on lower sales. For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

For people who have profit sharing what have your experiences been? Ours is every March but it is a variable number based on how we do the prior year (duh obviously) but also only my boss gets to decide and he gives no criteria on why he chooses what he does. Don’t get me wrong I am super thankful to be in a location with great PS opportunity and upside but it is so hard to plan my life out not knowing what my income will be that year. I am a proposal manager for federal consulting company. My base is low (112000) but I make up upto 50-70% of my base income with win bonuses. But I get the bonus only after the completion of one year of the base period of the contract. My question is -is this arrangement good or should I negotiate for higher base instead ?
