Edmonds
Edmonds is solid. Lots of little port towns around but become larger the closer in you get to Seattle. Depending on the need to commute into the city, also look for towns that have ferry lines into downtown Seattle. With wfh/hybrid work situations, it makes it a little easier to live further away if you’ve only got to come into the city periodically.
Not a port town, but we live in West Seattle. Still part of Seattle proper but much smaller town feel; parts of it feel like a beach town (e.g. Alki beach). Can be in the city in 10 mins by car, 20 mins by ferry, and can even bike in easily.
We’re also Atlanta transplants; happy to connect over DM. We love it here and can’t imagine going back!
Gig Harbor
No don’t go to gig harbor.
Edmonds is nice and now that light rail is open in Lynwood, you could take it to the airport.
Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island. Unsure whether you actually have to commute regularly into Seattle or occasionally as you didn’t say?
Agree. Strike Poulsbo or Bainbridge. SeaTac is a pain as the nice places are far away and the traffic can be horrific. Gig Harbor is a reasonable suggestion and you could look at Vashon, if you’re feeling adventurous.
lol. It was during the month of September. Always grew up around and enjoyed the small town feeling. Also enjoyed how slow time felt. It was a nice change compared to ATL
