My wife is approached by a B4 consulting firm and she is really keen on being in consulting since her college days.
But we have a 15 month old and she is in a fix if it’s possible for both of us to be consultants post covid world while taking care of our son. I’m supportive of her career move, but I don’t know any consultant couple w kids.

Would appreciate if anybody has any words of advice if it’s doable and what can we expect if my wife becomes a consultant.

I recently became an Anaplan Certified Level 1 Model Builder and have been applying to a lot of roles. Does anyone have any recommendation on companies to apply to and a range that is suitable with that certification? So far I have applied to the the big four consulting firms and Fintech companies.

I am currently a year from finishing my PhD and was looking at VC's as a career path because I like to do meta-analysis of different climate change techs. I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. They said they'd be interested in working with me to do a research paper over the coming semester, and was wondering if I could leverage this into a full time offer?

Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.

I just wanted to reach out and let you all know I understand how tired and beat down we all feel at this point in the year. I’m feeling it too. I also know exactly how students can try us. What I’m working on every day though is to see my kids as God does… not the kids that know how to push buttons and drive me crazy, but as the beautiful lives they are, all deserving of the best we can give them every day. I know it’s not easy, but that’s what I’m working on.

Anybody have to take time off for long-covid? How has your HR handled it? I feel like any info I have gotten on FMLA and disability is because I’ve brought it up and have had to follow up multiple times.

I have a student who only comes to school two days a week and then only for 1 hour. He tells me I have to pass him so it doesn't matter. This is very frustrating. I knew this student hates school and often states he is stupid. I just do my best to encourage him. Build confidence. Any ideas to encourage him more? By the way, taking to his parent does nothing.

Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada). I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. I’ve been depressed for years now and this past week I lost a dog I’ve had for 15 years; he was one of the only bright spots in my life and I’ve just found it so hard to focus or motivate myself on anything after this. I genuinely feel like I’m at rock bottom, Idk if I’m crazy to feel that way bc of a dog but I used to be able to control this and put up a front but now my depression and anxiety are starting to leak into my work conversations completely unintentionally, I wish this would stop :(
