My wife is telling me to start looking for a new job now and I prefer to wait until after the 3 - 4 month parental leave when my kid is born in late July. Her position: You’re not likely to find what you want for several months so you should start looking in May. What does everyone else think?

Congrats! But hold on a second. Don’t you want to enjoy your parental leave with your new child and then bounce after taking a full leave? What happens if you have a new job 3 months from now and you are a new daddy with a newborn at home? You ready to go all in? Also don’t underestimate the importance of having insurance during birth and first few months of several pediatrician visits.

I actually had the same exact thought process. Income and health insurance are not a problem. We are using her company’s health insurance. I think I’ll get the resume and story ready in the meantime and then focus on the kid. The ideal situation is that I join a project in a practice I’m interested in switching into (partner support in practice I want to join) prior to my leave and then jump onto another project there afterwards and make a full transition.

I’ve taken parental leave 2x and have another one coming up (6mo old) I agree with your wife that it takes time to find a job, now more than ever...

Start looking now but you mat have to be transparent later in interviews about the parental leave

Wife is always right! 😉

Job search always takes longer than you think. Start looking now

Since I have been in an audit role my entire life, what all resources can I refer to for continuous upskilling? I’d like to have sky as the limit here and would appreciate any help!

At what age do you stop taking a bath with your child? My 3 year old & I were in the bath together and suddenly he reached out to my chest and said “mumma, your lungs are outside, mine are inside my body” I was so embarrassed! I told him that those were my breasts and that grown ups have slightly different body parts. I normally take a quick shower before him and sit in the tub with him, as that’s our bonding time. I was wearing underpants so thankfully he didn’t notice my non-existant penis

I have an interview scheduled for this Friday and I don’t think I’ll be ready or have enough time to prepare. I just checked my email and realized how much work I have to get done and it’s looking like I’ll be working a lot of hours this week so I won’t have much time to prepare for my case or technical interview. Should I email the hiring team and ask to reschedule or just not sleep this week so I can fully prepare?
