^bullshit, I've helped new staff transfer because of life issues, our firm is all about flexibility so just talk to your counselor and they will help you, if not talk to your people consultant. As long as you are doing good work, nothing to worry about, the firm wants to retain people.
Talk to your coach.
I did what EY1 said and had no problems.
Transferred offices back in December - a big factor was being as open as possible and displaying confidence in your ability to transfer while maintaining the same level of work. Guy above me put it perfectly, as long as you continue to do good work it doesn't really matter where you are since you're bettering the firm.
Ask your counselor or PC to facilitate a transfer.
Tell them you're moving. That part is not negotiable.
Generally a staff 1 transferring might have a little tougher time, but if its driven by life issues I would expect you wont have a problem. Start with your counselor and any PPEDs you might have a connection to.
I think the general advice is that it's a lot easier to just jump firms, plus you'll have a better opportunity to negotiate up your comp
@EY2 what level were you when you asked to transfer? I had a manager/coach yell at me before when I asked about this process, and at the time I was not asking to transfer just wondering how it worked. His exact words, "all you $&#%ing staff request to transfer in the first year."
Yea you can't transfer as a staff 1
