Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

I’ll be frank and just break it to you that there’s nothing like wlb or minimizing travel. It doesn’t exist except you have temporary personal or health issues. Except you’re coming in as a Partner or MDP, or you get lucky with a few cases/projects/teams that have styles that match yours. Note that this job is a grind, always is and will remain that. From the day you join till they day you leave, every 6months you’ll be assessed based on the up-or-out (perform or get fired) model.
have no clue, i have no competing offers and im still considering rejecting the offer. This doesn’t sound like a job, its more like hunger games tbh
For NAMR wlb is similar to classic BCG. I do about 60-80hrs per week. A low week is 55 (I actually don’t know if I have had one that low). X isn’t as office based at classic. All of X is by region (NAMR etc)
60-80 including travel if you’re traveling, not including travel if you’re not traveling (which is probably most weeks)
Almost 0 office difference for WLB because it’s all case dependent and as B1 noted, X staffing scope is regional (NAMR) and less office-based. And as B2 noted, staffing has to do with luck and the people you meet along the way. But be prepared for tough weeks, it’s the nature of client services
