Update: i reacted to the Twitter folks at United. Spoke to live agent and they rebooked without any fare difference. All good.
Thanks A1. My poor choice of words. I first messaged their twitter folks. They gave half as answer. I left them alone. Spoke to live agent and she said no fare difference because the change was from their side. Came to realize twitter folks are L1 support for basic things. Real agents have deeper knowledge
This happened to me and I was able to get a full refund (though they initially tried to argue that I had to accept a future flight credit only). On my rebooked flight, I paid for premium economy and was downgraded to Economy...I switched flights and United wanted to subject me to fare difference there. I'm pretty sure if you did nothing, they would be forced to find alternative route for you at no additional costs.
...did you search if any other options were available? I would only fly Air India as a last resort.
I have flown short distance couple of times. I avoid all the times, but this one is the only way to get PQF. 2-3 hrs flight, so not worried about the journey but PQF.
Thanks RSM. I am speaking to a live agent and she is trying for no fare increase. Will keep posted.
Is there points i can ask tor the inconvenience and longer route?
