Join a Facebook group for your neighborhood and look for recommendations.
Yep, it’s 90% of the reason I log into Facebook. I live rural and it’s all about who you know. One example I needed about an acre of trees cleared from my property. I called the likely big companies. 15k estimate. I post of FB and find a retired guy with an excavator. He said 4k including $1500 to move his excavator. He just wanted to work at his own pace. He was slow, but also happened to have his excavator here during a wind storm. Insurance company paid the 4k to clean up all the downed trees that landed on my RV and House. Zero cost to me. We went from 15k to 0k.
Yes check in your neighborhood Facebook group, they usually have recommendations in there. Also to avoid getting ripped off get at least 3 quotes, ask for previous work they have done and whatever price they give you, negotiate lower
