I could see it being a lot while still technically being new. But I’m not sure why it’s a surprise after you explicitly told them you already made plans. Being unlimited PTO, too, is a bit of a red flag. Hopefully, the questioning lets up after you’ve been there for a while.

Could be either. It is 2 weeks in 4 months. New hires typically only get 2 weeks. They may be wondering if you intend to take 2 more weeks every 4 months. Maybe have a conversation with HR or your manager.
