Can’t just look at pure salary - the social system in Scandinavia is amazing compared to US

like

With 60/70k€ in Europe you can live as you live with 150k$ in US. Also you don’t work that much, have sane political system, wonderful healthcare for your and your family and great FREE schools. Also no crime in the Netherlands. Cuz no gettos and no social misbalance.
OP:
I live in and work in the Netherlands, 33k is way too little. It’s either 2d year after graduation, or your are massively underpaid man.
I’m at 150€, 5 years after starting masters (worked in consulting in parallel), 3.5 after graduation.

So significantly lower wages and significantly higher taxes for what? Free healthcare and education. I'm good. I'd rather pay for those things as necessary and have more money to do with as I please, not as the govt pleases

Sure the number is low... 6 weeks vacation, unlimited sick days, company car, steady 40 hour weeks help to compensate though. Can’t afford to buy a house though so meh.

McKinsey: my kids can go to kindergarden and school for almost nothing. Beat that.

M1, yup. But people just think socialism is the greatest thing ever 😂

OW1 you don’t know what you are talking about. Check personal taxes in France/Denmark/Sweden and come back here

I am 100% with SC1. The Scandinavian fad only makes sense for medium-low earners

We also have 28 working days paid holidays, 4m maternity leave, grieving leave, marriage leave, even 2 days off for moving.
I’m specializing on healthcare, even top sustainability researchers in US say that US healthcare system sucks: too expensive, no universal access. When you are young and healthy and working - good to hope for things staying as they are. European system is much more developed and tested with time: its the one creating social stability and comfortable leaving.
MC1: I didn’t say 60-70 is my ambition, I’m way above that now, I’m saying you should add coefficient for comparing those things.

From what I’ve seen of my international colleagues, they’re also better at their jobs...

European salaries are so low that it only makes financial sense to work there if a) it is in Switzerland, or b) under expat tax benefits, e.g., Belgium, Denmark

like

@OP: Con here, 34k, 10% bonus. Can’t buy an house as well. Other than that life is good 👌🏻

like

@SA1 that would be financially optimal (I’m in tech though so no interest in MBA), but I wouldn’t be able to stomach living in the US in its current state.

Following. I was briefly looking at KPMG Sweden salaries on glassdoor and found that they were roughly half what I make and a manager at about 2/3rds

Switching firm soon. Next year senior manager at a small security consulting firm. 70k plus car and bonus. (around 30%)

Idk, they seem to have pretty high quality of life. If you’ve ever travelled there, everyone is happy

like

@sa1: if you are not sick and don't have any undiscovered problems, then, yeah. That's basically the best plan (and have kids in Europe)

like

As a US person vacationing in Europe, I can vouch for the much better healthcare system. my 10 month old was running a 104 degree fever and after a visit to the clinic and then children's hospital, the damage was only 50 euro... and it was actually a decent experience

Hello Fishes,

I currently hold offers from below:
IBM - 15.5 LPA
CTS - 18.5 LPA
PWC India - 16 LPA
Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) - 21 LPA

Planning to join OFSS as I will work in product development team and can work in any shift timings with WFH.

Today I had my 2nd round interview with EY GDS and got rejected.
Do I need to worry about this and feel low?
Could EY GDS would have been better instead of OFSS?

Please provide your valuable inputs.
