New Year’s Eve at the store felt different. The holiday rush was winding down, lights still twinkling, music low and calm. A regular guest stopped by just to say thanks for the year, no shopping, just gratitude. We shared a quick laugh, wished each other well, and that was it. Here’s the thing, it reminded me why retail and hospitality matter. Small moments. Fresh starts. Hope walking out the door with a smile.

The small moments do matter. They can turn a bad day or a bad mood into a good one! Small gestures of appreciation goes a long way.

Totally agree! Even a quick “thank you” or friendly check-in can completely shift someone’s day. It’s amazing how much the little things matter.

That is very true about small moments. People often knock small talk, but little conversations make a day more pleasant. Not everything has to be important. I think society probably ran better when people engaged in more light conversation.

Absolutely! Those small chats can really brighten the day and build connection. Sometimes it’s the little, light moments that make work—and life—feel a lot more human.

I work in a sucky IBM cic, making $54k. It’s a full time job with regular benefits and vacation etc, it’s working with government clients. The job isn’t what I applied for & constantly changes. I don’t like that, but I’m a full time employee which is “stable employment”. Btw, I’m in the DC area.

I just got hired for a government contract through Accenture for a Business Analyst role. Pay is $65 per hour. 3 year contract. Benefits too. No PTO. Holidays off with pay, after 90 days.

Starting with our very first IVF cycle this week and kinda nervous 🤞

So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?

How long is too long to try to push back a start date? Getting a formal offer early next week but trying to keep that big law bonus if possible. Firm pays out bonuses Dec 30 & I have a vacation scheduled Dec 19-23 (and was planning on working remotely the week after too). Ideally want to get EOY bonus or negotiate for a signing bonus but is it too much to push for signing bonus and those weeks off? I'm open to working remotely those two weeks but know that may not be the best when I start.

Hello, I have accepted an offer at a competitor company and sent in my resignation letter. My start date is 5 weeks from now so I put in my end date 4 weeks from date letter was signed. The manager said I had to leave the job in 2 days and the company can only play 2 weeks of work. Is it normal how they do that?

I need help. I'm dealing with multiple losses in the same week and having a hard time... I took some time off from work but I have no motivation to do anything. I don't want to go back to work and don't care about my work right now. I want to quit but I don't want to make a rash decision but need a long break. It's also not fair to my team that I can't give it my 100%. What can I do?
