Delta shuttle to DCA on Mondays and Train to Penn Station on Thursdays. I would leave the client early and work from the train, sleep, etc. and avoid the 1.42 million flight delays
that actually sounds pretty good. flying out Monday morning flight.
Fly you fool
We calling acela high speed now?
Train and Uber
Fly
I’d say from Manhattan, flying the Delta Shuttle to DCA may be better than flying to IAD due to better flight schedules. Though the attractiveness of the Shuttle is significantly lower now that it’s not at the Marine Air Terminal
Do it every week... Fly down Monday morning when traffic to LGA is light and normally no weather, Acela back on Thur due to threat of storms plus can do work stuff if needed / get some shut eye before getting back on it in NYC
If you have to fly, this is the way to do it. I spent multiple Thursday/Friday nights in Newark delayed 4, 5, 6 hrs before throwing in the towel. The Monday am flights have fewer delays.
Did the train for two years and miss it all the time now that I can’t. Waaaaay fewer delays (and usually shorter in duration), more flexibility to move to an earlier and/or later schedule, more spacious, easier to work the entire time as well as take calls...
Train. Don’t bother with that flight
Train and Uber from union station. I did reverse of your commute for a year
It’s almost an hour metro ride from Union Station once you are in DC... fly to Dulles.
Train.
Fly into DCA
The annoying thing about flights is the delays at LGA....
@BCG 2 that is what I am thinking
It depends.
Live in DC and total commute time door to door to NYC is the same for both flight vs Acela. My experience-
Acela trumps flight on comfort, fewer delays, can work and take calls etc. However if you are doing a 3-4 or 5 month engagement and you have prior airlines status, you will lose the status. Speaking from personal experience where I LOst my status. And right after that ended I was staffed on a different client that required me to fly. It was 8 weeks of hell before I hit status again. Lesson learned - I now fly DCA-LGA all the time
@Manager 1 yes . Amtrak is 3.5. Acela is considered “high speed” by lame US standards. Japan>
@KPMG1 I am United status and United has horrible flight times into IAD on Monday mornings, so I am giving up on it. Engagement is only 2.5 months. Seems like Acela is the way to go especially on Thursday when I just wanna get HOME. LGA sucks
Can you do status match?
Thanks Accenture 2! What time do you fly on Mondays?
8am if nothing pressing in the calendar. Gets me into the office before 10 if all to plan!
