Access was/is very unforgiving. If you boo-boo & delete something - it's gone FOREVER!
I agree with you OP. I have never used any other program than Excel and probably only would if I was forced hahah. I am a big time spreadsheet girly and absolutely love how easy Excel is once you learn all the little tricks and tips. Its definitely my first choice.
Excel is my go to. Access is better in certain use cases.
Excel can’t house a database though - it’s great for running analytics on extracted data
I’ve seen access used in retail banking. You have massive datasets(talking in 100’s of millions of lines) and millions new lines coming in each day. Access is pretty helpful for managing these to give analytics teams their db source for dashboards etc
As a civil engineer, excel is my favourite when it comes to construction materials calculations. I never had enough of excel spreadsheet...
