Lol. No.
Just had a lengthy conversation with someone whose opinion I have a regard for on the topic. Here's a quick summary - ID the group you're interested in. Talk to their seniors understand - How it's structured? Who the important ppl are (specifically in your market)? What's their growth strategy? What technologies are on the horizon (some they may not have capabilities in)? What keeps their leadership at night? Then gain a working knowledge in those topics. Start meeting with them, and working those types of projects. Work your way up the ranks. Sell yourself! Haven't gone through process personally but starting it. I'm thinking it'll take at least a year.
I don't think you can do anything. Majority of us are frustrated about CRT convos. Just suck it up what you have and think about having a job as a huge bonus
Not to burst your Bubble but it's assurance/tax, not consulting. That pay is pretty high for a non-advisory senior, couple of my newly promoted seniors are getting 76-78.
OP, I've known of people that have made that move and been happier for it. It's a goofy system the way PwC buckets who is in RA vs Advisory vs Strategy&
FYI, SA1 (RA) and going to make <80k.
P2, I hear you. Just know others that got the better end of the range for whatever reason and wondering why I was snubbed. Just want to be fairly recognized. Kind of BS to promote but rightfully reward.
but not*
Wow really? I'm A3A and at $82k
P1 - I'm in RA, not advisory, so that makes sense why u make that. It's just weird to me I won't be crossing the 80 mark as a SA in a big 4, regardless of LOS.
I agree. Sucks man/girl. Maybe try to move to advisory? I don't actually know what risk assurance does.....
Nope. HR will say "your salary is a combination of many factors" which is code for suck it up and if you don't like it there is the door.
Why does advisory pay more?
@P1 - very broad question. For starters, the nature of work is different.
Because it's "consulting" and those services by nature, we charge more for hour than assurance/tax services which tend sometimes to be fixed. Anyways, I'm in RA, but I don't do audit or tax. I'm in an IT group and we pretty much do the same thing as some of the advisory groups, actually sometimes bidding for same work but that's a whole other conversation. Guess my issue is just the LOS band/range that I'm confined to. Maybe my group will move over to advisory...or maybe just me
I'd def like to make the move just not sure how. If anyone here has, I'd love to know your story and any advice. Anyways, for now, I'll suck it up but I'm def going to be looking around to gauge my value. Maybe the bump from SA1 to SA2 is big. I know that's how it was for me from A2 to A3.
Same here mg promotion no salary increase hooray! Oh wait I don't have extra Money to celebrate
P6 - I'm sorry to hear that. What LOS are you in?
I was in a similar situation last year and S1 to S2 was solid. Keep doing good work and try to keep the complaining on here.
P7 - Thanks for the feedback. I'm assuming you went from S1 to S2 this year, mind if I ask what the raise was?
