The Woodlands is one of the top rated suburbs in the US. Tons of bars/restaurants/concerts/events. However, going downtown from that far north is a PAIN and you likely won’t do it often.
I'm here to make Daddy's money
If you didn't want to work in the woodlands why did you take the job
haha this place is also an important career move. Currently I'm a transplant in Dallas and I don't like it here so I'd I'm out. I like the demographics in Houston. I figured if I'm close enough to the main city I'll figure it out. Also, the company has an office in the E-corr so in time I might transfer there, so if I can swing that without fucking up my career I would then go to live in heights cause I'm 30 and that's basically the move. I don't think 2hr/day of driving as a newcomer is smart.
If you’re in Spring you could take Gosling to the Woodlands instead of I45.
Try Spring as the Exxonmobil campus has brought some cute apartments there after a year you will know better where you want to live and can move.
Try to live in Old Town Spring. These are older buildings/houses and a quirky nature to them.
They do have problems like bad internet so you will need to work around that.
There’s a ton of new construction (town center mixed use type) in spring since the Exxon campus went out there. Probably wouldn’t go to the woodlands itself unless you’re married w/kids.
Personally, I would also do anything possible to avoid a commute on 45. That highway is the worst - especially out near the woodlands.
Pro
Woodlands and Katy are quintessential suburbia.
Heights to Woodlands is a reverse commute so it wouldn't be terrible, but you're likely spending 1.5hr in a car daily. Living in downtown probably shaves 15-20 minutes off that.
Feel free to DM me, I work as a realtor on the side.
