It definitely helped me understand professional boundaries better, much like any FT job would. I know now when to be focused and when to be goofy, when not to befriend coworkers and when not to force it, etc. Looking back at some of the things I’ve said and done as a recent graduate make me cringe, but at least I was less boring lol
THIS. All of it. Smh 🤦🏻♂️
It made me feel okay about being a weirdo.
It’s made me a smarter, more empathetic person. Truly! I see what people go through (agency and client side) to get the work done. The good ideas that get approved along with the bad. As a PM, I’ve learned how to remove barriers for the makers (creatives and devs) and that transcends to my personal life too.
It gave my strengths I’ve always had but never knew what to do with a purpose. Then I was able to “practice” using those skills at work to refine them and reapply to my personal life as well. I feel confident and capable and creatively fulfilled.
I also have enjoyed all the experiences and people I’ve met and worked with. It allowed me to try new things (such as good food and wine) under the guidance of others and I didn’t have to pick up the check at the end of the night. Now I share what I’ve learned with my husband and we go eat great food and drink good wine together.
It fuels my narcissism while simultaneously demeaning me.
Yes. I was finally allowed to let my weirdo flag fly high.
