Can’t imagine, but what a joke lmao. It’s Texas bro
Depends on your HOA rules and guidelines but honestly this sounds like you’re trying to stir the pot.
What
Have you mentioned to them the curry smell that comes wafting over the fence (while you are trying to smoke your brisket)?
Except I love curry
It’s only an HOA offense if you don’t share.
It will only come back to you if there is an HOA rule that bars outdoor cooking, though I've never heard of such a thing. If a rule was broken, you'll get a notice in the mailbox citing that language from the "rulebook" and be asked to refrain from doing whatever you aren't supposed to do.
In all cases, you have nothing to worry about, but most likely, literally nothing will come of it because no rule was broken, and your neighbor will be told as much when they file the complaint.
I’m not the only person that owns a grill in our neighborhood…
Indians complaining about offensive smells is peak irony
That is their choice to not eat meats. I would not worry about the HOA and politely tell them that cooking bbq is a passion of yours.
Given that we are in Texas I’d love to see the video of whatever HOA confrontation takes place. It would definitely go viral.
“I look forward to discussing with the HOA” is the only acceptable response.
You’re in the right. If he has a problem, he can stay inside.
This is Texas. Crack a beer and smoke away.
I can offer my quality control services too if you like.

Is there a rule against smoking meat?
Not to my knowledge. We don’t even have any rules posted on the HOA site
No
It’s annoying having rude neighbors and I agree, it’s Texas, you have to assume people will be smoking meat somewhere.
I’m more curious why it matters they are South Asian?
I don’t get it. Do they not have doors and window to … you know … close and keep the air out? Tell them to go fk themselves seriously
Yeah; no way. What if you were grilling burgers? No HOA has a rule against that around here, that I’ve seen at least. And if they do, get the local media involved, they’d love this story.
I’m assuming their ethnicity is not important, but they are vegetarian and would like to avoid smelling meat being cooked for 8-12 hours. It all depends upon how rude they are about it. If they are downwind, no chance of avoiding it. But if the smoker is moveable, maybe it can be put on the other side of the yard. Only other thing I could think of, but wouldn’t be required is to give them a heads up if you are going to be smoking a brisket. Maybe they can choose to not be home during a portion of that time.
Doesn’t seem like much you can do. Only thing I could think of, is to drop a shade behind your grill to deflect the smoke/smell. Not required by any means, but I’m a people pleaser.
lol no
I am from south east Asia living in USA for last 24 years and now in Texas . It’s way of life backyard barbecuing no offense unless you keep loud noises until late night I can tolerate few times but will let my neighbor know to low the volume not first time if it repeats again and again . Other than that I must respect your food culture and same way I expect
Sounds like somebody really hates parties
