Hi everyone! The Environmental Education Collaborative in Southern California is hosting an online symposium Feb 25-28 (after school and weekend hours) and we would love to have you. Our topics this year include Justice, Literacy and Wellness. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be leading a "Bob Ross" style painting session on the Wellness day that teaches the steps of the water cycle while incorporating SEL strategies. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2021-environmental-education-symposium

Is KPMG the only big four that doesn't do layoffs or am I just missing the articles/KPMG manages the PR better?
Last year there were huge rounds of layoffs at EY, Deloitte, and PwC. I base this completely on all the fishbowl posts last year. I haven't heard of any layoffs this year. KPMG decided not to do lay offs, AND IN TURN had a lot of practices suffer with extremely low bonuses and raises AND they canceled training. KPMG just took a different strategy towards dealing with low revenue last year.
And at KPMG there was a push to counsel out people who hang on.. the long term associates and seniors who aren't going to make it to the next level. I guess usually they're not too strict with that but this year they're forcing a decision from management on them. So I guess not lay offs just "trimming the fat" as people on FB like to say - that plus the non client travel (trainings) as KPMG 3 says
M&A tax had a great year.. definitely beat plan. BTS had a horrible year and therefore overall tax didn't make plan. I think we could possibly still have layoffs in the next month or so.. we'll see. Tax comp might not be good this year with BTS miss.
I can only speak for tax, but it's been growing a lot the last few years and making plan, so no real need for layoffs. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't heard of anyone getting layedoff in any service line since I've been with the firm.
Did tax have a good year this year? I've been hearing compensation for tax may not be great this year.
I've heard that M&A tax didn't meet plan, and not so great outlook with tax reform looming.
Yeah, M&A and SALT made plan, BTS didn't. I have these of any layoffs as we're still growing though
Where are all these stories about layoffs at all big four? Haven't seen anything or heard about anything out of the ordinary at Deloitte. Just normal churn.
