Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Is this layoff?Amdocs

Any word on layoffs at JPM?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

At the beginning of COVID around March we had an employee who was at higher risk than typical and his doctor strongly advised him to self quarantine. One of our managers told him if he cares about his job he’ll be here in the morning. There were a few other issues with this manager so this wasn’t necessarily the entire reason but that termination came pretty quick.
Yes, I misread, meant it to be that the lawsuit was coming from the employee( not the manager).
He wasn’t a manager, but he wasn’t showing up for work fairly regularly, or was super late some days. We’re super flexible with work, but when he got behind we looked into it. Found out he had two FT jobs to support multiple addictions. When his wife showed up at work to yell at him about his infidelities (and starting taking things off this desk), we figured it was best he prioritize his health and not while he worked for us. Company was cool and gave him 3 months of insurance coverage to over counseling + outpatient care. He also stole 4 laptops.
I can see how they could get away with that. But 8 months - well played by them! Haha
Having relations with an associate on his project 😬
Over the years and not my current firm, I have only seen one fired on the spot, and that was for theft of cash. I have seen quite a few walk out after being pushed to the breaking point.
How much time you got?? 😂
