Is there any demand for this skill? 1. Secondary Research/ Literature Review - Ability to find & collect science facts & data from internet, analyze it and bring insights from it. And present in it very simple & consized manner. Note: Please don't call blindly this as data scientist skill. I am not only taking about quantitative data. I also talking about ability to infer facts & qualitative data.

Working on making a transition to becoming a police officer. Get paid while in academy, have a job lined up after. Not for everyone but definitely a longer 15-20 year runway compared to the current state of this industry.
How old are you? I was thinking about this but assumed I was too old.
So, let’s say I have a few more work decades ahead of me, apart from starting a business, I started seriously considering a major pivot, if I stay in corporate.
I know especially on fishbowl, we like to daydream a bit of pivoting or leaving, etc. But does anyone else really consider this? And I’m not talking about the jobs that are paid equally or somewhat similar job market, I mean highly in-demand, high paying roles? (That most likely require the entire new education, etc.)
I’m considering this too but haven’t made the jump yet. The idea of doing something completely new and unrelated feels very unrealistic, but my thinking was getting an advanced degree in a field like cognitive psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, human-computer design, or something where I could have a real life, positive impact on people’s lives or design the world around us to be more conducive to different needs and in harmony with the environment (for context I have a psych degree in addition to comms/marketing). And maybe some of these will be resilient to AI and could even adapt to be more necessary in our future society. Hopefully.
So yeah, I don’t really have any answers. Looking for them myself.
The barriers for something like this aren’t nothing. School, expenses, and getting a foot in the door with a totally different career. Sigh.
I daydream of pivoting to the trades - the thought of working with my hands seems so much more satisfying, but starting over is scary
If I made the switch from Paid Search to Data, then going from Strategy to Data isn’t far-fetched either! If you’ve been considering it for a while then I say go for it! It doesn’t really matter which one you choose (analytics vs science) - your career prospects would be similar either way
yes.
My brother is a firefighter and he’ll “retire” in his mid 40s with a nice pension. I’m still young and seriously considering following his footsteps (cuz ain’t no way i could ever be a cop).
Medical field is also an option. I’ve even thought about doing PA school.
Law enforcement, ICE (which has zero to do with law enforcement) and the newly renamed Department of War seem to be your best bet.
Awful? Absolutely. Steady? Probably in the short term at least.

I want to get out of ads but given my technical knowledge the next logical step is ad tech sales, but have no idea where to start and make those connections, it feels like I’m sending a resume into the ether most of the time, and a lot of vendor-side in my market seems to be in perpetual hiring freeze. I’m toying with the idea of joining the military and do a complete 180 and pick up a trade.
The trades are were it’s at if ya want stability. Just paid a plumber $3,200 for 3 hours work.
i think most people here are, yes lol
no one dreams of advertising since their youth OP! i think most people just end up here one way or another
