McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I'm sure OP knows it's illegal...companies go through a lot to ensure you can't prove it was because of that specific reason. Has happened to a few friends of mine. Sorry you had to go through that OP
True, I came late to work one day to help out with my newborn, and my boss told me that I should have told her that I was expecting a baby and she would have taken that into account when making hiring decision.
I find it shocking how many people think "illegal" and "can't have happened" are the same thing. Pro tip folks, people (and companies) do illegal shit all the time.
depends on the state whether its illegal unfortunately.
P2 is right. It's not illegal to fire someone because he or she is gay... it all depends on the state you live in. Being gay is not a protected class from a Federal standpoint, so if you live in a progressive state live Alabama or Mississippi, you bet your ass they can fire you because you are gay. Btw, I am gay so I keep up with the law 👍
@P5 I'm not wrong. EEOC is federal level and covers gender identity in *some* situations but does not extend to sexual orientation. There are currently no federal protections for sexual orientation or sexual identity. It's called ENDA and it has been proposed in several ways but never passed... as an example of this paradox, I live in NC. I could marry my partner of 8 years, but her company does not protect against sexual orientation. It would be perfectly legal for us to get married, and perfectly legal for her company to fire her because we're married... even though my firm has protections against it, hers doesn't. Very unfortunate, and we are looking to move for that reason alone. It really sucks to have to make decisions like that just because of whom you love.
Thank you @A5. I came to the firm specifically because of the reputation of Pride@KPMG which has been extremely supportive of me for the past 3 years since I've joined the firm.
(It was a long time ago, not in consulting.)
You trolling? Cause that's illegal
👹👹👹
He did say its long time ago
Pwc2 is entirely correct, depends on state
Not trolling... happened in South Carolina in 2010.
Illegal versus wrong! This is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
@A1 not a "he" 🙋🏼
Wait where was this? This couldn't have happened in the last 15 years at least
No but that sucks and I'm sorry.
It's actually not illegal... full protections exist only in 20 states.
Still perfectly legal there too. No I was not military. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_employment_discrimination_in_the_United_States
