I second this. I set up a chase account and separated my finances from my parents
Go to a local credit union
Charles Schwab Bank! No ATM fees worldwide (at any ATM) and free account!
Chase or BofA
HSBC if you need to launder money
Chase
Sperm bank
Ally is great if you don't care about having a physical bank. Their APY is 3% on savings versus 0.01% at the big banks like Wells Fargo and Chase.
Their app isn’t too bad anymore. I like ally but look into capital one 360 too. And for physical, Chase and Bofa
Local credit union, Schwab (esp if you travel or despise carrying cash), regional banks, Chase—in that order. At the end of the day, stay clear of Wells😂
I would recommend opening a third account eventually with Amalgamated. Their paradigm of banking is worth exploring
- Chase for Checking and Credit cards
- AMEX High Yield Savings account (2% APR rn)
- Local Credit union when you need an home or auto loan
US Bank
If you have any military family,Navy is fantastic.Excellent customer service.Only problem may be finding an ATM/branch near you.If you want a large non-CU,I’ve always liked Chase
If you want to do further research as to what banks are great,I would say first look at what/how many branches of a bank are in your vicinity, followed by reviews of those branches and the service they provide.Reviews on the mobile apps(some can be garbage) can also save some headache in the longrun. Credit unions usually have a great balance of relationship building with customers and service, but if you travel out of state, sometimes finding a partner atm if you absolutely need cash can be hard(depending on the CU)
Chase has so many locations. I’ve banked with them for 6 years and have no complaints
Delta Credit Union is my go to
