I left big 4 for a 45% raise at Protiviti. IAFA/Risk don’t get paid as much as Tech and Tech is our fastest growing solution so I wouldn’t factor that into your decision. I’ve gotten promoted and received over 100% raises each year and in staying in touch with colleagues, I know I get paid more then them still. Work life balance is great, firm opportunities are everywhere and you can actually make an impact at any level, people are great, and our leadership knocked the response to the pandemic out of the park in my opinion.
I can confirm the impact at any level part. I am a Consultant with 2 Years at the firm and I get to sit in meetings with the high ups for my speciality. My voice is heard, valued and supported.
No on Protiviti, way lower comp and mostly risk and internal audit work. People are nice and bonus can be good but everything else is blah.
I hear your point, but we are making a lot of headway through several methods including expanding where we recruit from (if you only recruit from schools that are 80-90% white, you get white candidates), partnering with professional organizations like NABA (National Association for Black Accountants) for example, and making sure we have a diverse slate of candidates for experienced roles. Once we hire people, we also need to make sure we are inclusive and people have opportunities to succeed. We’ve really focused on this through well established employee network groups, as well as direct conversations, metrics, and other means that I’m not even privy to.
All in all, I think Protiviti is a great place to work, but I appreciate that we still strive to be better.
Regarding protiviti and the comp question, if you look at 2020 results across consulting firms - you’ll see that we paid out some of the largest promotions to date, promoted more people than ever before, hired when other companies were laying off, and most importantly the bonus pool was over 100% funded. Most of my friends at big 4 not only didn’t get promoted when they thought but also didn’t see their bonus this year.
To my point above: Protivti hands out promotions in fear of losing talent. Wrong reason to promote people. Most of our newly promoted mangers aren't ready but we push for their promotion because our largest turnover is at the senior consultant level.
RSM is pretty dope. Good combo and fair WLB
Agree completely with this.
Love the culture but dislike the staff aug model the company is pushing lately. If I wanted to work in a staff aug capacity, I would be a contractor with Robert Half and get paid more.
Re: CCC - very nice / talented people, at junior levels all the way on up. WLB will vary substantially based on service line/geo/team. Comp will generally be lower than Big 4, and work can vary from staff aug to more interesting. Understand what you are looking to do and clearly communicate that.
CrossCountry is the up and comer in Consulting. Like a smaller version of Big 4 and the best culture according to many.
I had looked at CCC a while back and seemed like comp was low
Being recruited for MD role. What comp would I come in at? Pros and cons?
Depends on solution and highly variable at that level but I’d assume 250 - 300k+
