A lot of computer systems and programs have keystrokes that allow you to directly access your desired location. Without having to click and move the mouse around, I have found that using those instead of the mouse saves a lot of time throughout the day. You might check to see if that is a possibility.
The developers didn’t consult with users. I always made sure I did when I was a Y2K consultant.
The biggest issue I see when new systems come in is that nobody takes the time to explain why. It might be extra clicks and time, but maybe it’s being saved somewhere else or making a process better, etc. We just have no idea because it’s so rare that anybody says it.

Having worked on the other side, yes you are right that the people developing these platforms rarely have experience using them. The better ones at least do testing with users but I would say most of my experience has been that people are removed from it.
Almost as if they get more money the more we click...
In my career I've seen things get increasingly complicated, and it often does feel like the engineers who design systems don't much care about the users. Having said that, we're also handling much more information than ever before, and we're able to retrieve it instantly, so I guess all the complexity just comes with the territory.
I absolutely agree. We recently switched our EMR and I hate the new system. I feel like I’m having to learn something new every month and it’s driving me nuts.
