Sorry to hear that OP. The good news is there's probably never been a better time to switch employers than now so stay strong and it'll become just another story you'll laugh about later. What's your background? Did you feel like you were overwhelmed in these 2 years or was it a cultural thing? I know coming in at SM level is hard especially for strategy since it's a smaller group so word travels fast and cultural fit plays a role too. Did they offer you to transition to another operating group? Do you have any connections that can help like MC or Digital SM or MD from a previous project
You sound like you know your strengths and weaknesses OP and as far as I can tell you'll be fine and it's just another bump on the road
Sorry to hear that.
I've heard two weeks per year at M and above, so 2 or 4 depending on whether you've hit the 2 year mark yet.
Coming in at SM in strategy is a major challenge. I believe I should have had a “need improvement” or “progressing” but the last project I was on was a mess and I and my tram worked many - too many - 7p - 00 hour weeks. Thing is, I escalated issues and risks but the MDs didn’t do anything about them. The MD / SMA in the trenches with me 4 days/week also didn’t do anything to help those escalations. And those I escalated to didn’t mention that up the chain or in reviews (so they could cover their butts). I definitely could have done many things better but the out-counsel was definitely a factor of some bs that I wished I had managed differently
Elsewhere is open, maybe thought leadership, but as SM1 mentioned, other elsewheres aren’t a salary fit. Will look local as well as other consulting firms. Although EY is out as I heard that anyone who had EY do their taxes can’t apply there for 2 years. Seriously.
Accenture provides it as a benefit if you paid taxes in three or more states.
Details/frustrations/politics not important right now. Question: anyone know if there’s severance for someone in my situation? CC didn’t have details. F me.
Is the bench in your practice large?
Sorry to hear OP. Keep your network open
Sorry to hear OP. You can check the policies site or ask hr for the specifics but yes there should be severance based on your tenure. Wondering if there was an opportunity to move to C&M or another service line? I know we emphasize "up or elsewhere" instead of "up or out" so a bit sad to see they went directly to "out."
I do hear Strategy at Accenture is up or out. Sorry to hear.
Elsewhere is usually for those outside of Strategy. Pay gap is typically so large that people wouldn't be willing to change DTE. SM2, for example, makes 210 or 220 I think. Better luck finding comparable comp somewhere else.
EY did your taxes? How?
I believe base separation package is 10 weeks w one or two extra weeks per year for smgr.
Check policies.accenture.com or the original contract you signed for more info
That seems crazy high. People I know let go after less than two years only got two weeks, but they were C4.
OP at SM it’s really about your relationship with MDs you need someone who will have your back even as the project goes south - which happens often. I feel your pain and I am sorry this happened but I am sure you will land on your feet.
If you don't mind sharing, what was the severance offer?
