Partners, here’s a real tip for real talent retention: Don’t penalize associate A who discovers and raises issues by dumping the problems to them and criticizing them for not being able to fix the issues. At the same time, don’t protect associate B who created these problems in the first place; instead, step in when associate B tries to cover their ass by throwing associate A under the bus. Associate A is now quitting because of shits like this. Go beyond what might be obvious but misleading.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad.
