I’m aware KPMG, being that I live in TX and work in tax. But my $2,000 in sales tax in TX isn’t going to offset someone paying exorbitant NY and NYC property tax and income tax. People can also choose to live in cheaper states, you have 50 options. It doesn’t have to be NY/NJ/CA/CT

My partner and I are moving out of our condo building in NYC at month end, and the building management (not our landlord) has communicated to us that, on top of the 1K non-refundable fee and 1K security deposit to move out (stated in lease), they are also issuing a $1,250 "sanitization fee" for the public areas (hallways/elevators), since we happen to be moving out during COVID19. We feel this is taking advantage of tenants during this time and may not be legal. Any advice helps!
